History of RE/MAX Beach Cities Realty
In 1982 RE/MAX Beach Cities Realty began. Our Founder, Bob Todd, was managing two offices for Spring Realty in Southern California. He was called to an office meeting where the RE/MAX concept was being presented. That day he saw the future of real estate and became a “born again REALTOR.”
Bob started his first two RE/MAX Beach Cities Realty franchises in Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach. As some competitors were downsizing offices during the market’s decline, he was successfully recruiting top agents and growing the business.
Bob’s daughter, Kelli Amundson, joined the business in 1984 to manage the daily operations while he continued recruiting agents. From 1984 to 1989 they opened offices in Torrance, El Segundo and Westchester. Marina del Rey was added in 1993, Santa Monica in 1995 and Brentwood (RE/MAX Westside Properties) in 1996. That year ended with a total of 345 agents and 41 employees. In 1997, the corporation and presidency was transferred to Kelli Amundson. They acquired a RE/MAX franchise in the mountain resort community of Lake Arrowhead as the market continued to recover. As the offices continued to flourish with agents, Venice Beach and Beverly Hills offices were added to the group. 1999 brought the addition of the first exclusive RE/MAX Commercial Brokerage office in West Los Angeles. In 2001 they opened an office in the Hollywood Hills area called "RE/MAX Sunset Blvd". In 2003 they opened a 2nd resort office in Crestline and another Commercial office in Woodland Hills.
Our rapidly growing network is comprised of nearly 700 Sales Associates servicing all of Los Angeles County and the mountain resort areas of Lake Arrowhead and Crestline with the ability to network globally with more than 100,000 associates and 50 countries. RE/MAX associates, on the average, lead the industry in experience, production and professional designations. Our growing staff of 75+ is there to assist the associates in providing the very best support and service possible.
